On the 9th and 10th May the meeting organized by Cardiocentro on the research applied to stem cells for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases took place.
The interest and importance of the event, coordinated by Prof. Piero Anversa and Prof. Tiziano Moccetti, are shown by the participation of leading personalities of the international cardiology field, amongst others Prof. Steven R. Houser whom as of 1st July 2016 will become the President of the American Heart Association.
The symposium was held in four sessions spread over two days.
In the first session the main topics were myocardial damage and the possibility of its “repair”; the second session was addressed the issues related to regenerative processes; the third focused on heart failure and its possible gene therapies, while the fourth and final session involved the ”genetic expression” connected with the growth of the myocardial tissue.
