Together with the Swiss and Italian foundations “Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo”, Cardiocentro Ticino has supported the realization of a paediatric cardio chirurgical and cardiac centre at the paediatric University in Damascus.
As a consequence of a civil war for more than 5 years, the current, tragic humanitarian crisis in Syria, and because of the difficulties in having any news, the fate of the hospital and the one of its young patients is worrying and distressing.
For this reason, we are happy to hear from safe sources, that the center is still miraculous operative, unless the many difficulties. Since the launch day, on the 24th of July 2011, more than 500 cardiac procedures on children suffering from cardiac disorders have been executed.
