Under the supervision of Dr. Marco Moccetti, head of the Cardiocentro Ticino Interventional Cardiology Unit, we do offer an interventional fellowship programme, primarily devoted to the acquisition of the interventional skills needed to work independently by the end of the programme, together with active participation to research projects.
Thus, 70/80% of time will be spent for the interventional training with a minimum of 400 procedures/years, primarily performed as first operator, with a gradual increase in procedural complexity. Moreover, a dedicated period will be spent in the learning of intravascular diagnostics with FFR, IVUS, OCT. Beside coronary training, fellows will be introduced to structural interventions such as TAVR, Mitraclip, Cardioband, PFO/ASD/LAA closures, Paravalvular leaks closures.
The presence of a 24/7 facility with cardiac surgery will expose the fellow to more complex and acute cases.
The fellow is asked to develop at least one research project in the field of interventional cardiology and to follow some trials in the Cardiovascular Research Department, to which he/she must dedicate 1.5 days per week
